Below is our official schedule of Fall Rush events. With the exception of the First Degree Exemplification, which is intended for new members only, all are welcome at our events. Please check our website throughout the week, as some times, dates, and locations may change. Any questions can be directed to us by emailing HarvardKnights [at] gmail.com. Sunday, September 11th, 6:15pm-7:30pm: Information Session, Meet n’ Greet. Please join us in the Harvard Catholic Center Lounge (20 Arrow St.) immediately following Student Mass to learn about our Rush week activities, inquire more about the Knights of Columbus, and to meet the Brothers of the Harvard Council; special guests of the Harvard Daughters of Isabella will also be present. Pizza dinner provided. All are welcome. Post-Mass attire. For anyone wishing to participate in Harvard's 9/11 commemoration vigils following this Rush event, please refer to the full schedule here.

Monday, September 12th, 7pm-8pm: Inaugural Meeting of the Knights-Daughters' Holy Family Society. Please join us in Room 202 of the Harvard Catholic Center to attend the first meeting of our joint catechesis group, which will meet throughout the semester to foster bible study, the interior life, and understanding the teachings of Holy Mother Church. At this meeting, we will also discuss the forthcoming Catholicism project by Rev. Robert Barron, to be screened this fall at St. Paul Parish. All are welcome. Casual attire.

Tuesday, September 13th, 8:30pm-11:30pm: Super Tuesday Monopoly Deal 
Tournament! Hosted by Br. Carlos Sanchez in the Harvard Catholic Center Lounge, this collaborative effort is our first Monopoly Deal tournament with the Harvard Catholic Student Association! Come and learn how to play this intriguing, fast-paced card version of Monopoly; no prior experience is necessary. For your convenience, instructions are linked here and a virtual tutorial is located hereAll are welcome. Casual attire.

Thursday, September 15th, 6-7pm: Serving the Community as Catholic Gentlemen. Candidates and friends of the Council are invited to accompany Brothers to Cambridge Rehabilitation and Nursing Center (formerly Vernon Hall Nursing Home) at 8 Dana Street, as we visit and pray with the elderly. All are welcome. Casual attire. (Please meet in the St. Paul Parish Courtyard at 5:55pm to walk over as a group). After this service project, all are invited, especially graduate students and young-adult professionals, to a spaghetti dinner in the Harvard Catholic Center Lounge.

Friday, September 16th: Bid Day for Fall Rush 2011. Electronic and/or printed bids will be distributed to Catholic gentlemen invited for fraternal membership on Sunday, September 18th.

Saturday, September 17th, 3pm: The Importance of Sacramental Confession. A lecture sponsored by Rev. George Salzmann, OSFS, and the Harvard Knights of Columbus, in the Upper Church by the Reconciliation Room, on the reality of sin in our lives and the importance of reconciliation and daily payer, in particular devotion to Our Lady. Confession is offered following this talk. All are welcome. Casual attire.

Saturday, September 17th, 7pm: Rosary followed by Poker (K)Night! Candidates and guests are invited to join us in the Adoration Chapel of the Harvard Catholic Center (29 Mount Auburn Street) for the recitation of the Most Holy Rosary. Afterwards, all are invited to join us for a Council poker match at a special (historic!) location on campus, which will only be revealed after the Rosary is finished; no prior poker experience is necessary. All are welcome. Casual attire.

Sunday, September 18th, 3-4:30pm: Initiation and Holy Mass. Registration prior to the Exemplification of the First Degree (Initiation) will take place in Room 203 of the Harvard Catholic Center at St. Paul Parish. [Brothers, as candidates are preparing in the Antechamber, Room 203, please arrive and prepare in the Degree Chamber, Room 202.] Candidates only for registration. Formal attire (shirt and tie) for all present. Following the First Degree, all Brothers are invited to attend Holy Mass together at 5pm in the Lower Church. Dinner will be sponsored by the Council immediately following Holy Mass.


Membership Requirements

To join the Knights of Columbus, a man must be at least 18 years of age and a practical Catholic. Typically, members of the Pope John Paul II Council have some affiliation with Harvard University, though exceptions to this may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Any man interested in joining our Council should contact the Rush Chairman, Br. Adan Acevedo, by sending an email to HarvardKnights [at] gmail.com.

At events, candidates are encouraged to meet the Brothers, ask questions, and learn about the mission of the Knights of Columbus and our Council's work. Candidates should obtain and complete a Form-100 Membership Document, which will be available at all Council events, or upon request. Finally, all men seeking membership must attend the Exemplification of the First Degree on Sunday, Septmeber 18th, 2011.
