7:30-9pm Catholic Film Series: Metropolis, St. Paul Parish student lounge, Bow and Arrow Streets, Cambridge
Saturday, Nov. 7th
10-11:30am St. Joseph Society meeting at 2 Peabody Terrace, Apt. 614. Brunch will be served: please RSVP to harvardknights@gmail.com. There is no reading for this meeting of SJS as we will be watching the Salt + Light production on Pope Pius XII and the Holocaust: A Hand of Peace. Trailer/clip here. As you may know, Pius XII was pontiff during the Second World War, and has been much maligned for not opposing in a more overt manner the persecution of the Jews. This documentary, "provides convincing proof that his bold, yet discreet, prophetic actions saved tens of thousands of Jewish lives and paved the way for a new era of Catholic-Jewish relations."
12:30-1pm Pray the Office of the Dead at the Central Burying Ground at Boston Common. Meet at high noon at the Harvard T stop. Bring your Breviary if you have one. It is possible to gain a plenary indulgence for the souls in Purgatory each day of the octave of All Souls Day, subject to the usual conditions, by praying at a cemetery. We will sing the Dies Irae as part of the Office; if you are interested in learning to sing this, let me know, as we will probably meet at least one evening this week to practice.
2-3:30pm Dr. Peter Kreeft, Professor of Philosophy, Boston College, will give a public lecture at the St. Francis Chapel, Prudential Center. The topic is his talk is: Does God Exist? Dr. Kreeft answers in the affirmative by giving us an explanation of the proofs of the existence of God.
